О книге «S class»
That gives the new model a perilously broad brief: at the lower end of the scale, the S-Class will find itself transporting mid-level executives to and from airports, while at its top end, it has to indulge its occupants like no other luxury car in the world.
But even that is no longer enough, as the world expects the big saloon from Mercedes to remain at the cutting edge of technological advances, which is under serious threat from the likes of the latest generation BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 and Tesla Model S.
Read on to see whether the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class obliges.
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the automaker’s flagship sedan that continues to set the benchmark against rivals such as the BMW 7 Series, Audi A8, and Jaguar XJ.
History The lineage of the S-Class can be dated back to 1951 with the 300 series, a luxurious and powerful four-door sedan or convertible equipped with a 3.0-liter straight-six engine.
In 1972, The S-Class nameplate was officially used for the first time in the fifth-generation that came in 280, 350, 450 models with SE (standard wheelbase) and SEL (long-wheelbase) versions for each.
Available as a sedan only, this generation was powered by a straight-six, a range of V-8s, and a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine in the 300 SD model.
